Stan Bailly

12/19/21 - Kamloops radio legend Stan Bailly passed away at Royal Inland Hospital Saturday, December 18. He was 74. The former long-time co-host of the CIFM-FM morning show retired in 2018. Bailly got his start in radio in Williams Lake in 1968, returning to his home town to work for CIFM in 1987.  Aaron Schulze, CFJC Today 

Roo Phelps

12/18/21 - Long-time Okanagan broadcaster Roo Phelps has announced that she will be a permanent member of the Pure Country Radio team, hosting a weekend show Saturdays and Sundays starting January 8th. Canada's only 4th generation broadcaster currently hosts mid mornings at Move 101.5 CILK-FM Kelowna. Pure Country is heard locally on CICF-FM 105.7 Vernon.  Facebook Announcement

CFMA-FM Cache Creek

12/17/21 - CFMA-FM 105.9 Cache Creek/ Ashcroft has been off air for over a month due to vandals, who smashed all the equipment inside the transmitter site. Damage is estimated to be about $14,000 and is not covered by insurance. Station owners Ash-Creek TV Society are pleading for assistance and have offered free advertising for a year to any local business that donates $500 or more.  Barbara Roden, Ashcroft Cache Creek Journal

12/09/21 - The Numeris Fall 2021 Radio Diary 12+ ratings have been released for Kelowna. CBC Radio One CBTK-FM 88.9 is first with a 20.3 share, 80s & 90s Hits CKQQ-FM 103.1 is second with 11.6 and Country CIGV-FM 100.7 is third with 9.6.  Numeris Release

Earl Seitz

12/02/21 - After 54 years in broadcasting, Earl Seitz is retiring from his Sports Director position at CFJC-TV Kamloops. His last sportscast will be December 31st. Seitz was inducted into the Kamloops Sports Hall of Fame in 2019.  Marty Hastings, Kamloops This Week

12/02/21 - Ashley (AJ) Pirhonen has joined Move 97.1 CJMJ-FM Penticton in afternoon drive. She previously hosted mornings at Moose FM CFBG-FM 99.5 Bracebridge ON, where she began in January following graduation from the BCIT Radio Arts & Entertainment program.

Colton Davies

12/02/21 - Colton Davies has left Radio NL CHNL AM  610 Kamloops to take on a communications role with the Thompson-Nicola Regional District. The 2016 BCIT Broadcast Journalism graduate has been a reporter, anchor and assignment editor with Radio NL since 2018. 

Howie Reimer

11/30/21 - Radio NL CHNL AM 610 Kamloops PD Howie Reimer will be the new Executive Director of the Kamloops Central Business Improvement Association. He takes over from Carl DeSantis, who is stepping down on December 10 after four years in the role. In addition to his PD role, Reimer was the host of the NL Morning News from 2017-21. K Wake Up

11/29/21 - (Updated) K Wake Up with Brad and Alysha has been added on K96.3 CKKO-FM Kelowna and K97.5 CKRV-FM Kamloops. K97.5 has rebranded to Classic Rock from the Classic Hits format it has carried since 2018.   Milkman Unlimited

Q101 CKMQ-FM Merritt

11/25/21 - Q101 CKMQ-FM 101.1 Merritt is continuing to carry on operations from sister station B100 CKBZ-FM 100.1 Kamloops following evacuation of most of the community due to torrential rain that triggered flooding and mudslides in the region. Station Program Director Roger White spoke with Broadcast Dialogue earlier this week about weathering a year of wildfires and water, on top of the challenges of the pandemic. 11/23/21 - The CRTC has granted extensions to International Harvesters for Christ for new stations in Kamloops, Kelowna and Saskatoon. 11/17/21 - Sue Tyler aka Suzanne Milne is suing the Jim Pattison Broadcast Group and multiple employees claiming that CKLZ-FM 104.7 Kelowna (formerly branded Power 104) fostered and promoted an environment that was both toxic and misogynistic. Webster Awards

11/04/21 - The winners in the 16 categories for the 2021 Webster Awards were announced during the Online Webster Awards show which can be viewed here.  The awards recognize excellence in journalism in B.C. 10/29/21 - Taya Fast joins the Global Okanagan Penticton Bureau as a Video Journalist. The 2018 BCIT journalism graduate interned at Global BC in Vancouver in 2019 and most recently has been a journalist/ anchor at CKPG-TV Prince George.  Twitter Announcement

10/27/21 - CityNews 1130 CKWX Vancouver p.m. drive reporter Marcella Bernardo is leaving the station to return to her home town. She's joining CBC Kamloops as a reporter and will also be reporting for CBC Vancouver. Doug Collins

10/23/21 - Senior CFJC Kamloops broadcaster Doug Collins is retiring after 55 years on air. He arrived in Kamloops from Penticton in 1970 and served in several management roles in addition to his broadcasting duties. Collins retired from the management side in 2018 but continued reading morning radio newscasts for B-100 CKBZ-FM 100.1 and CIFM-FM 98.3James Peters, CFJC Today
Andrew Murdoch

9/09/21 - Kelowna broadcast executive and production guru Andrew Murdoch is joining CHED AM 630 Edmonton as the new Manager of Talk and Talent. He has most recently been Assistant Regional Program Director, B.C. Interior, for Bell Media.


8/12/21 - Kamloops will be one of over 20 markets to be included for radio audience measurement by radioCount, which has been selected to cover some of the radio diary markets previously served by Numeris. Starting next month, radioCount will begin measuring over 20 markets with a Fall 2021 survey release to be made available in late November. The Lizard CKLZ-FM Kelowna

7/30/21 - Pattison Media today relaunched CKLZ-FM Kelowna as 104-7 The Lizard. The name was last used in the 1980s and 1990s, after the station was launched in 1964. BC Lions

7/06/21 - Beginning with the August 6th season opener in Saskatchewan, all BC Lions games will be broadcast on AM730 CHMJ Vancouver with play-by-play broadcaster Bob “The Moj” Marjanovich and analyst Giulio Caravatta returning to the booth. 6/24/21 - Former Sun FM (now Move) CJMG-FM 97.1 Penticton morning show host Kyle Stewart has found a new position outside of radio. He and his wife Jessica have acquired the Soda Creek Soap Co. 4/08/21 - Former Kelowna and Kamloops broadcaster Hayley Cooper, who was part of recent layoffs at Bell Media in Toronto, has accepted a position with Etobicoke Centre MPP Kinga Surma as Director of Communications. 3/27/21 - Former Guess Who and Bachman-Turner Overdrive member Randy Bachman says his CBC program Vinyl Tap is being cancelled. The two-hour program has aired weekends on CBC Radio One since 2005. 3/26/21 - The Lake CKOV-FM 103.9 Kelowna officially signed on at 10:39 a.m. today, replacing CKOO-FM, which declared bankruptcy and ceased operation last March. The new station, with a soft rock music format, will add a full slate of well-known local personalities in mid-April along with news, weather, sports and community information. 3/24/21  - CKOV-FM 103.9 Kelowna is in test mode and is set to officially launch Friday at 10:39 a.m. New owner Paul Larsen says there will be a new brand and imagery and talent will come in three to four weeks. 3/11/21 - Jasmin Doobay, Program Director at Power 104 CKLZ-FM 104.7 Kelowna will join the Prince George division of the Jim Pattison Broadcast Group as PD of The Drive CKDV-FM 99.3 and The River CKKN-FM 101.3 in early April.

3/11/21 - Betty Selin joins the Vernon Community Radio Society, operators of Valley FM CFAV-FM 97.9 Vernon, as the honorary chairperson of its fundraising efforts. Up until November, Selin was the morning show co-host on CICF-FM 105.7 Vernon.

3/02/21 - TJ of the former Andy and TJ morning show, which was cancelled last December following the re-branding of CILK-FM 101.5 to Move Radio, has announced her resignation from Bell Media. 2/05/21 - There are a number of moves and layoffs in the Okanagan following numerous cuts across Canada by Bell Media. Chanine Carr leaves MOVE FM CILK-FM 101.5 Kelowna today to take on a maternity leave at Bell Winnipeg, which includes BOB FM CFWM-FM 99.9. Kelowna-based Bell South Retail Sales Manager Paul Farina is out. Bruce Irving, Bell Kelowna sales, took retirement this winter after 32 years in Kelowna. MOVE FM CJMG-FM 97.1 Penticton personality Kyle Stewart leaves as morning host and afternoon voice tracker for EZ Rock South. Louise McIntyre, Office Manager at Bell Penticton also leaves, along with an unnamed host at EZ Rock CKGR-FM 106.3 Golden.

1/25/21 - Former Giant FM GIGV-FM 100.7 (now New Country 100.7) Penticton personality Dennis Walker has joined the British Columbia Association of Broadcasters Quarter Century Club. He entertained listeners in Penticton from 1990-2012 before being released due to re-structuring. He currently operates South Okanagan Country Internet Radio and hosts mornings at 2Day FM CFSM-FM 107.5 Cranbrook.  BCAB Release
